University Union’s Spring Campus Music Survey

UU is the on-campus programming organization that provides you opportunities to see relevant speakers, comedians, films and musicians here on campus. Next semester, they want to make sure they hear your opinions.

The organization is circulating a campus concert survey asking you to list artists you’d like to see on campus and also to rank artists the organization is considering for the year-end Block Party concert (typically held at The Carrier Dome – past acts include Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Fergie, Ben Folds).

The survey can be accessed here. If you’re not familiar with the acts UU is discussing, read on after the jump to get one person’s perspective on who to vote for. Continue reading ‘University Union’s Spring Campus Music Survey’

Juice Jam this weekend (and other upcoming CNY concerts)

jjamIf you haven’t heard yet, the annual fall Juice Jam concert is scheduled for this upcoming Sunday on South Campus starting at noon.

This year’s lineup is headlined by the guy to the right, Gregg Gillis a.k.a. Girl Talk. You can check out his album at a pay-what-you-want-free-is-OK rate on his record label’s official site. It’s an eclectic sound because he combines the music of others (and all types of others, classic rock, rap, indie, pop, etc.) to create a new song. His album Wikipedia page really explains it well.

The other acts for the day are The Cool Kids (minimalistic, beat-heavy rap) and Jack’s Mannequin (formerly a side project of Something Corporate for the pop-punk-emo folks out there).

If you don’t have the opportunity to take the trip to South Campus for music this weekend, read on after the jump to see some other concerts planned around CNY this fall. Continue reading ‘Juice Jam this weekend (and other upcoming CNY concerts)’
